Smurfette

It is with deep sadness that Smurfette, whom we blogged about recently, passed away on Friday, January 2nd, 2015. She passed away sometime between 6am and 7am in her sleep. Krista and Nigel had been having Smurfette sleep with them almost every night since she was diagnosed with DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy). Her heart finally gave out. She was very happy and content right up until the end.

Smurfette was rescued from Great Dane Angels by Krista and Nigel back on November 19th, 2013. She was only 4 years old (approx.) when she died.

She very much enjoyed her life at her forever home. She had several acres in which to roam and played enthusiastically with her siblings Pitou, Blue and especially Ruby (whom Krista and Nigel rescued back in July 2014).

Smurfette was dearly loved by her entire family and was a favourite of many who came to visit Krista and Nigel over the last year or so. She was affectionate, playful, strong, athletic and highly sociable.

She will be dearly missed by her entire fur siblings: Pitou, Blue, Ruby, Dale, Chip, Spice and Honey. She will never be forgotten. We love you Smurfette, we miss you!
